“In Her Honor” Styling Project
Inspired by the late great Vivienne Westwood, I spent a month sourcing vintage garments, screen printing custom pieces, airbrushing a backdrop, and executing a photoshoot of three distinct looks that emulate the Westwood brand yet do not include any Westwood pieces…
3 ornate looks, to represent three different moods. This project shines a light on accessibility within the industry, and appreciates Westwood’s insistence on raising socialpolitical issues through her work— from the garment to the runway show visuals. I wanted to view the Mother of Punk’s style through a DIY affordable lens. Fashion that feels good doesn’t have to cost multiple paychecks.
Below are digital collages used in a Zine that I printed (fit with safety pin binding), a depiction of what I would do with a magazine spread if given the challenge of the styling project for a client. I reserved a studio for a few hours and asked my lovely friends to model.
There are scans of handmade accessories that I created and incorporated in the shoot, moodboards that I printed and displayed in the staging location, as well as original illustrations that I made into a screenprinted design to use for one of the outfits.
